Kathi Leahy, the then director of Shaskeen, revived the Coventry Carnival in August 2000, bringing it back to the streets both on foot and with floats built on hand pushed carts. At this time the Godiva Procession had also been running for three years and in 2003 the two events merged and the Carnival was retitled the Godiva Carnival Procession. Since then the carnival has gone from strength to strength and is now the largest in the Midlands and one of the foremost carnivals in the country.
