Carnival
About

On Sunday 29th July 2012 Godiva summoned the Carnival.
Imagineer Productions unique collaboration with award-winning Carnival Designer Brian MacFarlane ahead of Godiva Awakes in 2012 began with Godiva Carnival 2011. Titled ‘Dawn of Godiva’ the theme for this year’s Carnival was Olympic Spirit – celebrating the Olympic and Paralympic values that are echoed by Godiva.
For the Godiva Carnival 2011, Brian MacFarlane’s designs made up 10 sections of the Carnival representing 220 designs to be worn, and performed by, the Godiva Awakes Communitas, the 220 young people from across the region who are part of the Godiva Awakes project. These unique designs set the scene for the Godiva Carnival 2012 which was designed and created by Brian MacFarlane and saw Godiva summon the Carnival ahead of her epic journey to London.
Godiva Carnival 2012 saw people from across Coventry create costumes based on Godiva’s values designed by Jane Hytch, Director at Imagineer Productions. These designs were created through mas (carnival making) camps across the City in Willenhall, Radford, Wood End and Far Gosford St. Over 2000 people took part in the Godiva Carnival 2012 this included Civic dignitaries, drummers, floats and Coventry’s Lady Godiva Pru Porretta wearing a new costume designed by Imagineer.
